Surya Bhedan Pranayama

Relax into Padmasana, Virasana, or Siddhasana. Go into Jaladhara Bandha – placing chin to chest with spine pin strait. Place the back of the left hand on the left knee, perform Jnana Mudra, lift the right hand up to the face, and bring the index and middle fingers to the palm. Place the right thumb on the right nostril. Ring and pinky fingers on the left nostril. Press the left nostril in. Breathe in through the right nostril. Fill the lungs. Hold for five seconds while holding Mula Bandha. Now close the right nostril and breathe out through the left nostril. Repeat this entire cycle for five to ten minutes depending on your capacity. Be sure that during this particular pranayama, all inhalations are from the right nostril, and all exhalations are through the left. Keep the face relaxed. The focus should be on the breath, and on the sound of the air going into, and escaping the body. Keep the breaths at an even, slow pace and force. After completing the cycles, lie down in Savasana for a few minutes.
